BASF Coatings AG has received a patent for an aqueous functional coating material comprising at least one binder, at least one separate crosslinking system, wherein the crosslinking system is at least one of water-soluble and water-dispersible, wherein the crosslinking system independently effects at least partial crosslinking in and/or on a film formed from the aqueous coating material before the binder crosslinks completely, wherein the film is wet, drying, or dried and at least one pigment.
